About Me

ART is in my DNA.

Though I’ve always dabbled in the arts — painting, drawing, print making, photography, to name a few….I considered them to be hobbies. As I got older, I gave most of them up, as I embraced a full-time career in fashion and later, interior design.

A few years ago, I was introduced to mixed media - and loved the idea of combining collage and painting, and the freedom of a more abstract style. Inspired by local artists, I took classes from Bibby Gignilliat, Karen Meadows and Stephanie Jucker.

The pandemic of 2020 was a turning point, as my day job came to a screeching halt. With more time on my hands, I found joy and comfort through creating.  My “Caged” series was born and I haven’t looked back since…

“Caged” started as a mild preoccupation - drawing, doodling and collaging bird cages. Drawn to the line work and the shapes, I also realized it was a timely metaphor for how most of us felt sheltering in place.

Collage provides freedom, comfort and a sense of adventure as the work comes together by combining paper and paint in a free-form, abstract way.

You may find surprises in my pieces, such as my mother’s old sheet music, a typewritten story from childhood, or my best friend’s handwriting. Each layer combining to portray a richly textured story.
